Stone
Consulting
As
an internationally renowned Stone Consultant, Regis D'Agostin
leaves no stone unturned. He injects creative flair into
the selection of every material and demonstrates exceptional
attention to detail in the design of every project. This
has earned him high regard amongst the world's leading architectural
and construction companies, which choose him over many other
consultants because of his imagination and inspiration.
He is also respected for the initiative he displays when
faced with complicated requirements in the field. Drawing
on his family's expertise over six generations, he brings
to every project an unparalleled knowledge of traditional
techniques and design. The result is a comprehensive portfolio
of work, including the famous Jin Mao Tower in China and
many multimillion-dollar mansions of the rich and famous.
Stone
Design
Inspired
by the design rules of famous architects like Palladio and
Alberti, Regis D'Agostin's style is classical, but his sense
of creativity is even sharper. Tirelessly, he thinks in
three dimensions and can successfully translate these ideas
onto paper to create evocative sketches and drawings. These
enable clients to visualise the true appearance of a façade
or stone detail and give them full confidence in D'Agostin's
vision.
Stone
Selection
The
fundamental stage of stone selection demands a comprehensive
knowledge of and experience with stone and the ability to
select experienced suppliers and fabricators. Regis D'Agostin
always checks every block and slab as if it were for himself.
He sets uncompromising standards for his suppliers and will
not accept anything that is not worthy of the investment
his clients have made. Being able to discern the genuine
quality of the stone is the key to successful selection
- and D'Agostin is relentless in his pursuit of quality.
Cutting
Tickets/Cutting Lists
Regis
D'Agostin excels in this crucial part of any stone project.
He prepares cutting lists methodically and with precision.
Either D'Agostin or the architect complete the stone drawings
as the first stage, which allows him to visualise the project's
dimensions, profiles, anchorage locations and visual aesthetics
and, importantly, to pinpoint any layout mistakes or discrepancies.
Once the cutting list is finalised, D'Agostin vigilantly
numbers each piece according to the order of setting and
fabrication. This allows him to check all the measurements
and location of details (including mitres, bullnoses, quirk
mitres and so on). Then the cutting list is sent to the
carefully selected fabricator, with whom D'Agostin collaborates
closely. Together, they review it one more time to make
sure that every measurement and detail location is clearly
understood by the team.
Mosaic
and Carving
The
D'Agostin family has been in the business of mosaic and
marble since 1800. Regis D'Agostin's grandfather worked
with Master Facchina on several projects, including the
Opera of Paris and Lourdes Cathedral. This heritage inspired
in the contemporary D'Agostin a passion for art at an early
age. Throughout his career, he has maintained frequent contact
with mosaic masters and sculptors because he sees the potential
for their art. D'Agostin believes 'mosaic can be the special
final touch for a custom project that fulfils the special
needs of a special client'.
